Shame on me for not getting more pictures along the way, especially the before pictures because this table looked nothing like this in the beginning. It actually didn't have a top at all, it was just a stand for a cabinet that sat on top of it. It wasn't very sturdy at all and look what she changed it into, a desk!
Another board was purchased from Lowe's and my dad used a router around the edge.
Pretty snazzy, eh? Then Maria sanded the top piece. I should also tell you the stand was originally black and Maria painted it Arles (a mustard yellow color by Annie Sloan) she also used this color on a mismatched chair that used to go with the dining table I previously restored. After painting she used both the clear and dark wax. Then, she used dark walnut stain from Minwax on the top of the desk.
And now that the project is completed, here's the before and after (sorry, definitely would have been more dramatic if I got the "true" before pictures).
