Shiplap accent wall

Friday project at my sister's house.  She wanted a shiplap accent wall.  Done the thrifty way, we had some big sheets of plywood cut down to 6" wide.  Here's what we started with, nothing wrong with a patriotic room...just ready for a change.  So the white wall is what will be the accent wall, the other walls will be painted in a cream color.  I'll update paint brands/names soon as this project is still ongoing.

We were going to use liquid nails as well as staples to keep the boards up, but she decided on just the staples in case she ever wanted to make changes to the room again (that way she wouldn't have to replace the sheetrock).

Making some progress.  For the spacing going horizontally, she used a few nickels so they were spaced evenly.  For the vertical spacing we butted them right up next to each other.

After they were all hung we went back over the vertical seams and the staple holes with caulking (it's all we had but it worked great).

Followed by the first coat of paint.  Looking better already.

1st coat of wall paint done.

To be continued....
